Bias: Discrimination

Analysis: The picture shows us a normal phenomenon in our world, especially in the USA: racial discrimination. We can see a logo which is accompanied with two flags of the USA. It obviously claims that only white people can live together, and they do not accept other skin color. They cannot share their accommodation with the others who are not the white.

)

Bias: Discrimination

Analysis: In the picture is a sign which informs that only men are accepted, and women are not. The symbol of the women which is a dress is crossed with two contrast colors: black and red. Moreover, under the sign is a logo “MEN ONLY” that draws a lot of attention. The sign maybe show a place which men can come and women can not.

Bias: Stereotype

Analysis: The picture simply refers to a common aspect in our society in the past. Women always shouldered all the housework. It seemed to put a lot of pressure on them. Sometimes, they couldn’t stand doing lots of work at the same time. As the result, they felt stress and put the pressure on their children. Nowadays, men and women are equal, they share the housework with each other.

  1. Your post is really good. I love the first one so much, Actually, I have thought of choosing it for my post, and I see that you have the same idea with me.:D.
    I just want to comment little about the 3rd item. In that item, it is true for deciding it is stereotype. However, I think I would be more perfect if you point out clearly that : People in society tend to think about a woman with the image of a mother and a babysitter or a home help meanwhile woman have much more than this role in society, especial on these days.
    Anyway, it is a nice entry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

    Hi Ngan!
    It is my opinion about your entry 3:
    _ Item 1: you wrote that ” It obviously claims that only white people can live together, and they do not accept other skin color. They cannot share their accommodation with the others who are not the white.” I think that your analysis is not exact totally because the line in the picture is that ” We want white tenants in our white community”, it is not that we JUST want…. Therefore, when you stated like that, I think it is not persuasive.

    _Item 3: I wonder about your sentence – “As the result, they felt stress and put the pressure on their children.” I simply think that the mother has to do many household chore so they do not have time to take care of her child, it is the reason why the child is crying. She has to do so much – housework and children, so they make her mad. There is no violence in the picture.
    Can you see my point? That is all about my opinion.
    Good luck!
